Prophet Otukwu
The General Supervisor of ThankGod Awaited Liberation Ministry, Ikeja, Prophet Francis Onwudiwe Otukwu, has described the current threats, quit notices and counter-quit notices by some youths in the country as placing the nation on a keg of gunpowder; noting that if the Federal Government and security agencies do not take immediate civilised preventive measures, by resolving some of the vexed issues or checking the excesses of the culprits, Nigeria will experience a serious crisis, with devastating consequences.
His words: “A situation where the government is busy condemning hate speeches, while folding its arms over the quit orders, on the lame excuse that leaders from the South-East and the North are negotiating a peaceful resolution, has resulted in a counter-quit notice from a Niger Delta group. And because of the lack of intervention by relevant arms of government, there is currently in circulation a hate-song in Hausa denigrating the Igbo and re-affirming and justifying their quit notice. The government should appreciate the fact that Nigeria is more sophisticated now that that no group can go scot-free with genocide or ethnic cleansing act.
“On the other hand, Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), has no right to threaten the peace in the South-east, to the extent of shutting down towns, and issuing orders that election will not hold in Anambra State, come November 18. Nobody conferred that mandate on him.”
Prophet Otukwu, who was speaking at the Founder’s birthday memorial/11th Anniversary of the ministry, with the theme: Jesus Christ is the same Yesterday, Today, and Forever (Heb 13: 8), stressed:
“The current crises engulfing most parts of the world are fulfillment of the prophesied signs of the second-coming of the Son of Man, which calls for proper understanding of God’s end-time agenda as articulated in Luke 17:20, where the Pharisees sought to know from Christ, when the Kingdom of God will be restored. That was sequel to their failure to recognise John the Baptist as the Elijah that was foretold by the prophets, to precede coming of the Messiah (John 17:9-13).
“He told them kingdom will come in a way that people will not see with their physical eyes. But the signs that the Messiah has been spiritually enthroned are evidenced by the global state of affairs – wars and threats of wars, nations against nations, political unrests, insurrections, disasters and tsunamis, etc – are almost everyday occurrences.”
The Cleric averred: “While prayer of the faithful whose hands are not soiled is important, the most significant action required to restore peaceful co-existence today, is sincerity of purpose and a strong political will on the part of Federal Government: to listen to the voice of reason. Both federal and state governments should always consider the wellbeing of the polity, and not the interest of a parasitic elite, whose economic and political interests have held the country down for decades.”
He regretted a situation where the youth no longer listens to the counsel of political and religious leaders, as well as traditional monarchs. “That is a bold spelling of leadership failure, which demands dispassionate, unbiased and proactive action on the part of the Presidency and ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), if they truly appreciate the goodwill of Nigerians who voted them into power.”
