At least 20 people have been killed during an attack by gunmen who targeted a mosque in Kaduna State, North-West Nigeria.

A source in Kaduna who spoke with News Express said the attack took place around 5:30 this morning in Dogondawa, a community in Birnin Gwari Local Government Area of Kaduna State.

“It is suspected to be a reprisal attack,” the source, a journalist based in Kaduna, said. “The local vigilante had recently attacked a group of hoodlums dislodged from Zamfara State but who relocated to Birnin Gwari, killing some of them. This morning’s attack is believed to be a revenge mission by the hunted criminals,” the source further said.
