Boko Haram insurgents
Boko Haram insurgents have struck in defiance of Nigeria’s Service Chiefs, who relocated close to the epicenter of the war on Tuesday in keeping with the directive of Acting President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo.
A report from the troubled North-East says that the terrorists struck in Mildo community in Madagali Local Government Area of Adamawa State, killing killed seven people.
Details of the attack are still being awaited.
As reported by News Express early this morning, shortly after their arrival in Maiduguri, capital of neighbouring Borno State and epicentre of the North-East Counter Insurgency and Counter Terrorism Operation, the Service Chiefs commenced the Command and Control of the Operation from the Military Command and Control Centre in Maiduguri,” according to Director of Defence Information, Major General John Enenche.
He further said: “In this regard, the Chief of Defence Staff held a Briefing session with the Chief of Army Staff, Chief of Air Staff, the Theatre Commander and Senior Principal Staff Officers of the military high command at the Military Command and Control Centre on 1st August 2017, on the reviewed strategic direction and operational plans, in compliance to the directive of the Acting President.
“This move and action are expected to give impetus to the military effort in the North-East Operations.”
Osinbajo’s order to the Service Chiefs followed a resurgence in deadly attacks by Boko Haram, which both the military and the Nigerian Government had declared defeated.
