Nigeria ruling Peoples Democratic Party has sworn in former Governor of Bauchi State, Adamu Mu’azu, as its acting national chairman.
Mu’azu who is said to be the choice of the governors elected on the platform of the party to succeed Alhaji Bamanga Tukur who resigned last Thursday was sworn in at the National Executive Committee, NEC, of the party which is still on as at the time of writing this story in Abuja.
Uche Secondus, Deputy National Chairman of the PDP, who presided over the election quoted section 47 (6) of the party’s constitution which he said empowers the NEC to elect a new official to fill positions which become vacant as a result of resignation of an elected official.
Governor Isa Yuguda, who was Muazu successor in Bauchi State moved the motion for the nomination of Mr. Mu’azu which was seconded by Senate Leader, Ndoma Egba.
The new chairman was immediately sworn in.
Mu’azu was governor of Bauchi State from 1999 to 2007.
