The National Industrial Court, Abuja has ordered the striking Amalgamated Union of Public Corporations, Civil Service Technical and Recreational Services Employees (AUPCTRE) to unblock the premises of the Corporate Affairs Commission, Abuja.

In a ruling in Abuja on Wednesday, Justice Maureen Esowe held that the unblocking of the premises by the union would enable the applicant (CAC) take actions that would stop the strike.

The union had on July 17 embarked on a warning strike over alleged non-payment of salary arrears.

The union blocked the premises of the CAC preventing top management of the CAC from accessing their offices.

Esowe upheld the applicant’s prayer directing AUPCTRE to unblock the premises of the commission.

“The court has noted that the defendant respondents have blocked the premises of the applicant, thus preventing them, especially the top management from accessing their offices and look into their demands.

“The court orders the respondents to unblock the premises of the applicant to enable their top ranking officers or any other persons into the offices wherein they can take actions that would stop the strike.”

The CAC, represented by their counsel, Mr A. Ibrahim sued AUPCTRE and joined Comrade Ibrahim Kirfi, the Chairman of the staff union, as co-respondent.

The case was adjourned until August 9 for hearing of the motion on notice. (NAN)
