2Face in action
Nigerian music star, Innocent Idibia, popularly called 2Face, is organising a concert on today 22 July 2017 to support the United Nations Refugee Agency’s activities in Northeast Nigeria.
The Afro pop star made the announcement at a Press Conference in Abuja ahead of the concert.
The event will be headlined by artistes; 2Face, Waje, Style Plus, Kelly Handsome as well as Bongos Ikwue amongst other stars.
2Face, through his foundation, 2Face Foundation, had on 20 June this year, committed to raise money to help provide life-saving support to families who have been displaced in North east Nigeria as a result of the Boko Haram insurgency.
The concert tagged “Eargasm; the Special IDP Charity Edition” follows an earlier donation of 3.5 million Naira made by 2Face in February this year.
“I Care deeply about the refugee cause. I promised in February to hold this charity concert and it is happening.
“I am dedicating my music and talent to this noble cause and I challenge everyone to do same,” said 2Face.
2Face said the money raised from the concert will be donated to the Refugee Agency to carry out its activities in the Northeast.
He said the least ticket is sold for N50,000 and could be purchased at Transcorp Hilton Hotel which is also the venue of the concert.
In 2017 alone, Office the High Commissioner for Refugees, UNHCR and its partners require USD 2.5 billion to provide critical life-saving assistance to the displaced families in Africa but funding is dwindling.
With almost 89% of donations coming from governments, the body is looking for alternative means of funding to carry out its activities.
UNHCR representative in Nigeria, Antonio Canhandula said: “Unless we combine forces with the powerful voice of 2Face and others, the begging bowl for alms will remain with us.” (Daily Trust)
