The Movement for the Actualisation of the Sovereign State of Biafra (MASSOB) has declared August this year, a month of mass return for Igbo indigenes living in the northern parts of the country. The directive is in order to beat the Arewa Youths quit notice billed for October 1, 2017.
The group said the August date was chosen for the mass return because of its significance in Igbo calendar with regard to cultural festivals like new yam festival and women’s August general meeting.
In a statement issued by MASSOB’s National Information Officer, Samuel Edesonu, the group said the decision was taken at its national executive meeting presided over by its leader, Uchenna Madu.
The group called on Eze Ndigbo in the 19 northern states to immediately commence the compilation of names, residential addresses and villages/towns of all Igbo people living in northern cities adding that the closing date for the compilation has been put at September10, 2017.
The statement read in part, “That MASSOB secret securities (Biafra Intelligence Agency-BIA) are already in northern Nigeria monitoring this timely exercise that will save our people from genocidal annihilation.
“After September 10th deadline for the compilation, MASSOB will embark on investigation of all the Eze Ndigbo in northern cities to ascertain their levels of participation in this order.”
The group also charged all married Igbo women living in the north to start intimating their family members on the dangers of remaining in the north as their safety can no longer be guaranteed.
