Lagos LG Elections: Ayilara canvasses for votes, promises to turn Ojo around within a year

Barely few days to the much-expected local government elections in Lagos, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate, Prince Rasheed Ayilara, has vowed to turn the entire Ojo constituency around within the first year of his administration if he is elected as the Executive Chairman of the Council.

Ayilara, while canvassing for votes, appealed to the electorate to vote massively for all PDP candidates in Ojo Local Government and across the state. He assured that his administration would give succour to the people through the laudable programmes he intends to implement as soon as the party emerges victorious at the polls.

The Estate Management graduate from Kwara State Polytechnic lamented that the local government had been in a deplorable condition for the past 18 years despite its strategic location in the heart of prominent international markets in Lagos.

He called on the people to shun all forms of sentiments and vote wisely for the right candidates who would in turn deliver the dividends of democracy.

“I am only using this medium to appeal to the good people of Ojo to come out next Saturday to vote massively for me and my colleagues in PDP as we are not going to disappoint them.

“People should shun all forms of sentiments and intimidation by voting according to their conscience. PDP today remains the party to beat in this election and it is also the hope of the masses,” Ayilara said.

Meanwhile, the party LGA Chairman, Alhaji Adio Salami, has equally appealed to the Lagos State Independent Electoral Commission (LASIEC) to ensure a level playing ground to forestall any occurrence that may mar the results of the election.

Salami noted that it is only credible election that will re-enforce people’s confidence in the electoral process. He therefore appealed to all the parties participating in the election to keep to the rules of the electoral exercise and work with LASIEC for the success of the election.

He, however, recalled that the two members of the party, who are currently serving in House of Representatives – Hon. Tajudeen Obasa and Hon. Victor Akande – have kept faith with the people through various empowerment programmes they have implemented since they came into office.

Salami stressed that there is a ray of hope for the people in Ojo constituency if PDP wins in all the three local government areas. He therefore called on the people to come out in large numbers next Saturday to exercise their franchise by voting for PDP candidates in all the three local governments in Ojo constituency.
