An 82-year-old widow, Lady Juliana Onuorah on Friday lamented the level of intimidation she is facing from the Catholic Church over her land following the death of her husband.

Onuorah, who wept openly at the Ogidi High Court in Idemili Local Government Area of Anambra State, claimed that Archbishop Valerian Okeke, in collaboration with the church want to take over her property by force.

Testifying during a cross examination by the defendant’s counsel, C. J. Asiegbu, Onuorah denied signing any document with her late husband with the Catholic Church.

She said: “All the documents being bandied around by the Catholic Church and their lawyers were all forged.

“You people are doing all these things because I lost my husband and because I have only a daughter to fight for me. You should leave my property for me and my daughter please.

“They want to use intimidation to acquire the property I labored for over the years.”

The widow and her only daughter Patricia had dragged Archbishop Okeke, the Catholic Church, including her younger brother Lazarus Enemuo to court over alleged force claim to their property situated at Nkpor in the same local government area.

Lady Onuorah further denied that N30 million was raised during a launch to build “Our Lady’s” church, with the Catholic Church, and questioned those asking such questions whether they were there when the said amount was brought adding that no surveyor has surveyed her land as being claimed by the church.

She told the court that the land being claimed by the Catholic Church had never been in dispute, saying “the Archbishop and his church should leave my land for me.”

Others joined in the suit include their sister-in-law, Emilia Enemuo, Mr. and Mrs. Oliver and Martina Akponye, a former pianist for Saint Theresa’s society; and her cook respectively for conniving with the church against them among others.
