PPA vows to remove Okowa as Delta Governor in 2019

Progressive Peoples Alliance (PPA) has advised its members, supporters and the people of Delta State to disregard a publication made on page 17of Vanguard Newspaper of Monday, June 26, 2017 by the Inter Party Advisory Council (IPAC),Delta State, where it alleged that the PPA is supporting the SMART agenda of Governor Okowa and that the party has faith in the Okowa-led PDP administration.

In a statement issued in Asaba, the State Chairman of the PPA, Mr. Fred Obi, said his party recognised the body, IPAC Delta State, which is a constitutionally recognised body for all registered political parties for which the PPA is a member.

He noted that there was a publication made earlier by a group that goes by the name Coalition of Registered Political Parties in Delta State in Vanguard Newspaper purported to be calling on Prof. Pat Utomi to contest for the 2019 gubernatorial election.

The PPA Chairman, who equally recalled that there was also an online publications stating that 35 political parties have adopted Prof. Utomi as their gubernatorial candidate in 2019 general election, explained that it is in response to these publications that an emergency meeting of the Political Parties Chairmen was summoned by the State EXCO of the Inter Party Advisory Council (IPAC).

According to him, the intention of the meeting was tojointly disassociate themselves from the said publications even as he cautioned against any moves targeted at mustering support for Governor Okowa and the PDP led administration in Delta State.

“That to our greatest surprise and to the shock of the State Chairman and Mr. Eboware, the State Secretary, the publication on the outcome of the IPAC meeting came out on Monday 26th June, 2017 with the content that our party the PPA is supporting the Smart Agenda of Governor Okowa and that our party has faith in the Okowa led PDP administration. We therefore, wish to bring to the notice of the general public and all PPA members across the 25 LGAs of Delta State, that the publication is false and misleading,” Obi said.

He reiterated that PPA remain very resolute to its original position that the party will continue to preach against the PDP anti-people policies in the state and that the party is also determined to lead the crusade of well meaning Deltans to make sure that the Okowa-led PDP government is thrown out of Government House during the 2019 general election.
