The Governor of Anambra State, ChiefWillie Obiano, has debunked rumours making the rounds that he had dumped the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) for another political party following the legal twist that gave the leadership of the party to Chief Martin Agbaso, describing the rumour as the figment of the imagination of opposition parties.
This came on the heels of the rumour that filtered into town yesterday that the Governor had vowed never to accept Agbaso’s leadership ofthe party and that Obiano’s key supporters and the 21 local government chairmen were perfecting plans to draft Obiano into another political party for the purpose of contesting the November 18, 2017governorship election.
In his reaction, the Senior Special Assistant on Media and Strategic Communications to the Governor, Prince Oliver Okpala said that there was no iota of truth in the rumour, adding that Governor Obiano remains a strong card- carrying member of APGA and as well as the leader and chairman of the party’s Board of Trustees, BOT.
In his words, “Governor Willie Obiano has never contemplated the idea of dumping APGA for any other party.
“He still stands on his unshakable desire and commitment of seeking re- election as Governor under the platform of his party, APGA.
“This present rumour is no doubt, the hand work of the opposition, who have no genuine politicalprogramme oreconomicagenda for Anambra people. This rumour is the figment of the imagination of the opposition.
“GovernorObiano, as a true party man, has been workingin consonance and solid implementation of APGA agenda and political manifesto and will notrelent, ashis good works for Ndi Anambra have made it possible forhis name to be written in golden letters.”
