Governor of Delta State, SenatorArthur Ifeanyi Okowa, has advised Corps members posted to Delta State to key intoskill acquisition and entrepreneurship development programme of the NYSC. The Governor who was represented by Hon. OvieAgas, the Secretary to the State Government made the call during the closing ceremony of Batch A stream one of the 2017 Corps members deployed to Delta State.

According to him,NYSCremains relevant in the country today as it was whenit was established 44 years ago. He added that the scheme has shown depth by continuing to evolve pragmatic policies and programmes that help to sustain the relevance of the scheme and meet with the challenges in the political and socio- economic live.

He explained that the orientation course was packaged to strengthen and equip them physically and mentally to face the challenges of service year.The SMART agenda policy of the state government is to engage them in skills acquisition and youth empowerment programmes.

Meanwhile, the state coordinator of the NYSC, Mr. OmotadeAyodele Benjamin, expressed gratitude to the state governor for making three weeks orientation course of Batch A stream one of 2017 corps members a befitting one.The state coordinatorappealed for quick intervention of the state Ministry of Water Resources over the collapsedtank in NYSC CampIssele-Uku.
