Senate to INEC: Continue registration until all prospective voters are captured

Senate Minority Leader Godswill Akpabio

The Senate has urged the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to undertake the voters registration exercise on a continuous basis in respective polling units, until all prospective registrants are captured.

This was part of the resolution reached by the Upper Chamber on Wednesday following a motion by Senate Minority Leader Godswill Akpabio on matters arising from the continuous voters registration exercise.

The Senate also urged INEC to decentralise the registration exercise on ward basis. equally mandated its committee on INEC to monitor the exercise and report progress and challenges periodically. ‎

‎Akpabio had observed that the voters registration exercise is fraught with several challenges that need to be addressed.
