Rivers: Celebration time for rural women as Princewill commissions skills acquisition equipment

Frontline Rivers State politician and philanthropist, Prince Tonye Princewill (shown in photo), has commissioned multi-million naira skills acquisition equipment at Obio Akpor and Tai local government areas as part of effort to empower women in the state.

The scheme, launched under the banner of Princewill’s Trust, is aimed to train and empower rural women to enable them cater for their families and make them financially viable, according to Princewill’s spokesman, Chief Eze C. Eze.

The atmosphere was one of celebration as Princewill’s entourage touched down at Obio Akpor and Tai.

News Express learnt that while at Obio Akpor LGA, Princewill paid a courtesy call on His Royal Highness, King Prof Raymond Woko, the Paramount Ruler of Rumowha Community, and was blessed before he left to join the crowd that came to welcome him at the secretariat of Princewill Political Associates (PPA), a pressure group, where he commissioned the skill acquisition equipment for the training of the women in the area.

“The sequence of events was repeated in Tai where His Royal Majesty, King G.N.K. Gininwa OFR, Gbenemene Tua-Tua Tai, Chairman Supreme Council of Ogoni Traditional Rulers and Chairman of the Rivers State Council of Traditional Rulers, was on hand to receive him to his palace,” said Eze in a statement made available to News Express.

The atmosphere became charge with happiness when Princewill promised to provide a bus for the PPA in the area and offer scholarship to ten children of Tai to study in any university of their choice in Nigeria. The elated King prayed and blessed the Prince, describing him as a blessing not only to Tai people but to the entire people of Rivers State.

Hon Emmanuel Owhor the PPA Coordinator for Obio Akpor and Lady Peace Teerah the PPA. Coordinator for Tai Local Government Area both described Prince Tonye Princewill as a leader of the common man and that they are ready to sacrifice whatever it will take to promote the Prince and his Trust to the people of their local government areas.

The event was concluded with the presentation of a Hummer air-conditioned bus to the Women Wing of PPA by Princewill to assist the women in their mobilisation efforts in the state. Dr. (Mrs.) Edith Wele, the women PPA Leader, assured the Prince that his investment in the lives of the Rivers State women will never be in vain.
