Senate Leader Ahmed Lawan has challenged the legitimacy of news reports published in ThisDay Newspaper and Punch online, stating he was barred from entering his constituent by angry youths.

He stated during the plenaryon Tuesdaythat the story was not true, demanding that the media organisations should retract the story making the rounds.

Lawan also called on the Senate Committee on Media to look into the issue and the Committee on Petition to do a follow up and report backin one week.

Responding, the Deputy Senate President who presided the plenary, said “this is not the first time the media will report a wrong news,” adding that “it's time for them to be responsible in their duties.”
