Abia Police Commissioner Oyebade Adeleye
The Abia State Commissioner of Police, Oyebade Adeleye, said that use of siren for an unauthorised individual is prohibited and banned from the state.
In a briefing at the Police Headquarters, Umuahia, the CP disclosed that he has instructed officers of the command to begin enforcement and clamp down on anyone who disobeys the directive no matter how highly placed in the society.
According to him, all Police officers attached to unqualified individuals has been withdrawn and warned that individuals planning to ignore the directive would be made to face the consequences and the law is no respecter of person.
“I am making this information available to the members of the public, that individuals who are not in the position or qualified to have policemen attached to them should desist from it, the use of unauthorised siren is hereby banned, you are aware that law is very explicit, the police is only enforcing the law, please let us work within the provisions of law.
“Let me warn that whosoever flaunt and disobey the law, we are going to bring them to book irrespective of position or status in the society.
“Apart from the use of siren, many of them now cover their plate numbers, and I want to say that this is the height of impunity, criminals are using it as a disguise to perpetuate their nefarious act.
“I want to say that nobody has the right to cover their plate number, I have given a directive to my men to clamp down on offenders because the police would no longer tolerate it.”
