Thunderstorm
The Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NIMET) has made the following predictions about the country’s weather condition for today, Saturday, May 20, 2017:
NORTHERN REGION: Cloudy conditions are expected over this region during the morning hours. Later in the day, there are prospects of isolated thunderstorms over Dutse, Katsina, Kano, Zaria, Gusau and their environs. Day and night temperature values are expected to be in the range of 35 – 41℃ and 22 – 28℃ respectively.
CENTRAL REGION: Isolated thunderstorms are anticipated over Jalingo, Mambila plateau, Ilorin, Lokoja, Makurdi and their environs during the morning hours. Later in the day, there are prospects of isolated thunderstorms over Abuja, Minna, Kaduna, Jos, Bauchi, Gombe, Yola, Jalingo, Mambila Plateau, Ibi, Makurdi, Lafia and Lokoja. Day and night temperature values are expected to be in the range of 33 – 35℃ and 21 – 25℃ respectively except Jos at 27/16℃.
SOUTH-EAST REGION: Thunderstorms are expected to prevail over the entire region in the morning hours. Isolated thunderstorms are not unlikely during the afternoon/evening hours. Isolated thunderstorms are expected throughout the forecast period. Day and night temperature values are expected to be in the range of 30 – 32℃ and 21 – 23℃ respectively.
SOUTH WEST REGION: Thunderstorms are expected to prevail over the entire region in the morning hours with chances of isolated thunderstorms over Akure, Ado Ekiti, Abeokuta, Oshogbo, Ibadan and their environs during the afternoon/evening hours. Cloudy condition is anticipated over Lagos. Cloudiness is anticipated over the region during the morning hours. Later in the day, the entire region is expected to experience isolated thunderstorms during the afternoon/evening hours. Day and night temperature values are expected to be in the range of 30 – 33℃ and 21 – 25℃ respectively.
SOUTH-SOUTH REGION: Isolated thunderstorms are expected over the entire region in the next 24 hours. Isolated rain showers should prevail in the morning hours with prospect of isolated thunderstorms over the entire region throughout the forecast period. Day and night temperature values are expected to be in the range of 30 – 32℃ and 20 – 24℃ respectively.
