Tragedy has struck the Maikanti family once again. The Group Managing Director (GMD) of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), Dr Maikanti Baru, has lost his son.

It was learnt that his 21-year-old son had died in Dubai, United Arab Emirate (UE) on Thursday evening. Sources said the late Baru junior was humble and soft spoken.

Earlier in April, the NNPC GMD’s mother, Hajiya Fatima Baru, died in her hometown of Misau in Bauchi State.

Baru’s sister had died weeks ago on the eve of his trip to Houston, Texas United States, for the OTC conference.

Last year, guests attending his daughter’s wedding died in an accident.

The victim’s family and relatives were inconsolable after they were informed about the son’s death.
