Ahead of the commemoration of the fallen Biafran Heroes and the 50th anniversary of declaration of Republic of Biafra by late Dim Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu on the30thof May, the Movement for the Actualization of Sovereign State of Biafra (MASSOB) has drawn the attention of the International Community to the extra-judicial torture and murders of the armless and peaceful Biafran self-determination agitators by Nigerian security agents.
In a statement issued in Awka, signed by the group’s leader, Comrade Uchenna Madu, MASSOB claimed that the alleged indiscriminate killings have been confirmed by the reports of Amnesty International and other human rights organisations.
The statement reads, “MASSOB with an eloquent and overwhelming evidences wish to bring the attention of the Nigerian State, the International Human Rights Organizations and International Community to the fact that we have compiled and currently creating a database of the comprehensive list of the victims of this extra-judicial torture and killings by Nigerian security agents as well as the names of the security agents that perpetrated this criminal acts against the non violence Biafran agitators.
“We are also compiling the list of the top security officials/commanders who led them – up to the highest level – and who gave the directives for the murders of these non violence and armless Biafran agitators.
“MASSOB with the zealous spirit of Biafra actualization and restoration also wishes to state that we are concluding arrangement to forward the list of the victims of this extra-judicial torture and killings of armless and non violent Biafra agitators by Nigerian security agents as well as the names of the security agents who perpetrated this criminal acts against the Biafran agitators to the ICC for their investigation and outright prosecution through our team of Lawyers, prosecutors etc. already engaged for the purpose of facilitating this case at the ICC.
“MASSOB reiterates that we will never give up on this Biafran self-determination struggle until justice is guaranteed and victory achieved for the people of Biafra.
“MASSOB is drawing the attention to our legitimate and peaceful upcoming events of commemoration of the fallen Biafran Heroes and Heroines and celebration of 50 years anniversary of Biafra independence declaration by General Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu onMay 30th, 2017.
“We also wish to alert the world about the intelligence report by Biafra Intelligence Agency (BIA) that the highest command of Nigerian security agencies have given instruction to maim and kill our people as usual, for exercising our human rights, including our right to self-determination.
“We are crying out now and calling on the international human rights organizations and the international community in general to be aware of this evil plans by the Nigerian State and come to our rescue and possibly stop Nigeria state from committing acts of genocides against the people of Biafra.
“MASSOB is hereby encouraging the people of Biafra not to be intimidated or discouraged by the antics of external and internal blackmailers or overzealous Nigerian security agents but continue to prepare and mobilise to observe our proposed commemoration of the fallen Biafran Heroes and Heroines and celebration of 50 years anniversary of Biafra declaration as scheduled on the30th of May, 2017in our usual peaceful and non violence manner devoid of intimidation or compulsion in line with the guiding principle of our organization.”
