APC moves to capture Anambra during Nov. 18 governorship election

The All Progressives Congress (APC) on Thursday kicked off its drive to take over the leadership of Anambra State Government come November 18 this year.

At a stakeholders meeting held at the party’s office in Awka by the South East Committee for The Evaluation of the upcoming Anambra election led by Senator Jim Nwobodo, the committee members said they were in Anambra to effect a change.

Addressing party faithful, the chairman of the committee, Sen Nwobodo said: “We won’t fight, we won’t war but we will take over Anambra State. The most important task we must achieve is to get a credible candidate that will win the election.”

Lending his voice, a member of the committee, the former Governor of Abia State, Dr. Orji Uzo Kalu, said urge members of the APC not to follow money which he said has been the bane of political failure in Nigeria.

He called on the party’s stakeholders who will eventually be the delegates to select the party’s candidate to pick someone that can win election, not someone that has money to throw around.

In his words, “The time for money politics is over, it is time to vote the right candidate that can win election for the party.

“Obiano is not a bad man, he is my good friend but in politics, there is no friendship.

He can only be my friend when he decides to join our band wagon. People don’t like his leadership so, we will chase him out

“This state is ours; the state has gone to APC. You people should not make a mistake. Don’t vote for candidates because he has money or because he is your in-law, vote a candidate that will win election.

“APC is not an Hausa party nor a Muslim party as people say, it is a party for everybody. The national Chairman of the party, Oyegun, is a Knight of the Catholic Church.”

Kalu further urged party members to work with one mind adding that all aspirants will have to sign an undertaking before the primaries promising not to abandon the party when they fail the party’s primaries.

“Any aspirant that fails the primary must remain in the party to work for the winner,” he stated.

On her part the Senator representing Abia Central Senatorial zone, Senator Nkechi Nwogu, told the party faithful not sell their conscience adding that anyone that does will sell his/her value to the dogs.

She called on the women to use their motherly instinct to pick the right candidate to fly the party’s flag.

Some of the dignitaries at the meeting include, Senator Ararume of Imo State, Sen. Azu Agboti from Ebonyi State, among others.
