Immediate past Governor of Ogun State, Otunba Gbenga Daniel (OGD), has said that moments at the Ogun State finals of Jaw Jaw Africa 2017 has made it the best day of his life ever since he left office as the state’s helmsman.
The two-term Governor made this known while addressing the audience at the Ogun State finals of Jaw Jaw Africa, A Victor Eniola Mark inter-tertiary debate competition, in Abeokuta, Ogun State.
He said: “Congratulations Victor, I am proud of you...Today is the happiest day of my life ever since I left office as the Governor of Ogun State.
“When we had the opportunity to ensure that Ogun State did not miss out of the ICT revolution, we did all we can by creating ICT Polytechnics. Today seeing these students debate gives me great joy.”
Otunba Daniel equally tasked the stakeholders to do all they can to ensure that the education sector is not forgotten while calling for support for the project.
Daniel had earlier thrown his weight behind the project when the organisers of the competition made a courtesy call on him at the Asoludero Villa, Sagamu, Ogun State.
“I will sponsor the prize you want me to sponsor. If there is anything more than 100% that is the kind of support I will give this project,” he said, adding:
“We have sponsored projects that are not even as noble as this. There is no one reasons logically that will hear about this project and not see reason to support.”
Otunba Daniel presented the Ogun State representative with an iPad, while restating his pledge to offer a scholarship and/or a job to the winner of Jaw Jaw Africa.
“My word is my bond. I will give a scholarship or a job to the winner of this competition. Depending on what your team decides,” the former Governor said.
