Delta State Governor, Senator Dr Ifeanyi Okowa, has commiserated with the Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT) Delta State and the All Nigeria Conference of Principals of Secondary Schools (ANCOPSS) in the state over Friday’s death of three Secondary School Principals and one Vice Principal in a fatal road traffic accident while on their way for an official assignment in Kwale.
Okowa in a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Charles Aniagwu, in Asaba on Sunday, said he received with sadness the news of their tragic and untimely death with great shock.
“This,” he said, “is indeed a sad story especially as they died in their prime. On behalf of the Government and people of Delta State I commiserate with Delta State NUT, ANCOPSS, and the families, colleagues and students of the deceased Principals.
“The deceased officers who died in active service were dedicated in their service to the state and the nation and will be missed for their outstanding patriotism and dedication to duty.”
Gov. Okowa who also declared today (Monday, March 27, 2017) as a day of mourning in all public schools in the state as a mark of honour to the dedicated officers. He “commiserates with the bereaved families, colleagues, students, loved ones and prays God to grant them the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss and a full and speedy recovery to those recuperating in hospital,” the statement said.
