Imo Police Commissioner Taiwo Lakanu
The Commissioner of Police, Imo State, Mr. Taiwo Lakanu, has been duly served with an order of Owerri Federal High Court to arrest two serving commissioners and four other officials of Imo State government and brought to the court, says Barr. Amadi Obi, a lawyer in the legal team of the ex-minister of Interior, Capt. Emmanuel Iheanacho (retd.).
This comes shortly after the Imo CP denied being served with the Order of arrest of the affected government officials for contempt.
According to an ‘Affidavit of Service’ made available to newsmenon Wednesday, dated 20th March 2017, deposed by the court bailiff, Nweke Jude Obinna, the Imo Police chief was servedon Friday(17-03-17) at exactly12:44pmand was signed for and received by one Corporal Njoku M serving in Imo CP’s office.
Barr. Obi expressed that with the evidence of service, Mr. Lakanu under the law, has the duty to diligently discharge his duties as the Commissioner of Police, Imo State, by arresting the contemnors and brought them to the court on May 2, 2017.
It could be recalled that Justice Lewis Allagoa, of the Federal High Court, Owerri, had on March 13, issued a warrant of arrest on some government officials on Suit No FHC/OW/CS/133/2016 between Ex-interior Minister, Captain Emmanuel Iheanacho and Imo State Government over the demolition of a property located at Orlu road, Owerri.
The affected government officials are Josephine Udorji, Commissioner for Works and Transport, Lawrence Eburuoh, commissioner for Lands, Survey and Urban Planning, Nwaogu Chidiebere , General Manager, Owerri Capital Development Authority(OCDA), Emeka Duru, Head of Department(Works) government house, Chibuzor Iwuagwu of Power and Housing and C. E Egbuka, a Director in the ministry of Works and Transport.
