A nine-year-old boy in Awka, capital of Anambra State, has become the topic for discussion after he confessed to stealing N400,000 belonging to her Madam.

The woman, a nurse at Amaku General Hospital in Awka and proprietor of FUPON drug store, was said to have kept the money in her room for the payment of her workers but returned home to find the money missing.

News Expressgathered that little boy (name withheld) confessed after much pressure and beating from the woman’s husband. He disclosed that he took the money together with the trash he was asked to go and throw away and dropped it in the trash dump site.

The boy said he stole the money with plans to later take it to his mother to assist her in starting a business to help improve their family life.

His confession led to the invitation of the Anambra State Waste Management Agency (ASWAMA), whose officials came immediately and cordoned off the area but after a thorough search, nothing was found.

Esther Nwike, who saw the search team while they ransacked the trash dump, toldNews Expressthat the team of five ASWAMA staff searched the trash dump for close to an hour with the boy and his madam watching closely.

According to her, “The boy was crying and pointed to the place he dropped the money but, unfortunately, they searched the place and found nothing.They asked him when he dropped the money and he said in the morning ofSaturday.”

The trash dump is usually cleared by ASWAMA team mostly early in the morning between the hours of7am and 9amand the money may have been evacuated.

When Onyekwelu’s madam was contacted, she said she didn’t want to involve the press or the security operatives on the issue saying that she want to handle it in a Christian way.
