The Federal High Court, Awka, on Wednesday remanded four suspected drug dealers in prison custody for different drug-related offences.
The four suspects are Chinemerem Oghuka (21), Amos Okei (32), Okezie Nwabueze (25) andSundayEze (25).
Chinemerem Oghuka and Okezie Nwabueze were arrested by operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) at different points in Anambra State for allegedly being in possession of 350g and 3.800g of Indian Hemp respectively.
They both pleaded guilty to the charges brought against them while Amos Okei andSundayEze, who were allegedly caught in possession of 2.2g of cocaine and 5.200gs of Indian Hemp respectively, pleaded not guilty to the charges against them.
The prosecuting officer of NDLEA, Barr. Emeka Ihechu, said that the offences committed by the four suspects were contrary to Section 19 of NDLEA Law and Act Cap N 30 Laws of the Federation of Nigeria, 2004.
The presiding judge, Hon. Justice I.N. Oweibo, adjourned the case toMonday, April 3, 2017for presentation of facts.
The suspects were later driven straight to Awka Prison.
