A communiqué endorsed by the state Publicity Secretary of the party, Ifeanyi Michael Osuoza, affirmed that the decision of the Court of Appeal sitting in Port Harcourt has nothing to do with the Wards, Local Government Areas, State and Zonal levels.
The stakeholders also resolved “that while the PDP in the state holds the judiciary in the highest regard, we fully endorse the prompt and proactive decision of the National Caretaker Committee to lodge an appeal to the Supreme Court of Nigeria against the decision of the Court of Appeal sitting in Port Harcourt on the 17th of February, 2017, in a split decision in CA/PH/349/2016 SHERRIF & ORS. Vs. PDP & ORS, as well as filing an application for INJUCTION PENDING APPEAL all of which was done in the morning of Monday 20th February 2017.
“That in recognition of the fact that both an appeal to the Supreme Court and an application for Injunction Pending Appeal have been duly filed in the morning of Monday the 20th February 2017, we pass a resounding vote of ABSOLUTE confidence in the leadership of the Senator Ahmed Mohammed Makarfi-led National Caretaker Committee of the Peoples Democratic Party and pledge our unalloyed support to it as it pilots the affairs of the party in this critical period of the party’s history.
“That the PDP Delta State, also passes a vote of confidence on our leader, Senator (Dr.) Ifeanyi Arthur Okowa (Ekwueme), Executive Governor of Delta State, the South/South Zonal leadership of the Party under Elder Emmanuel Ogidi, the Olorogun (Barr.) Kingsley Esiso-led Executive of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Delta State, as well as all our Local Government Area and Ward Committees.
“The meeting enjoinedall stakeholders, leaders of the party and true party men and women to remain calm, steadfast and loyal, even in the face of wanton provocation and to return to their Local Government Areas and Wards to convene meetings of the party, disseminate the foregoing to members, and be fully committed in the concerted effort to continue the reformation and propagation of the PDP at their Wards and Local Government Areas, as we remain committed to the ideals of the party.”
