Collins Edomaruse: Great loss to THISDAY Newspapers!

Collins Edomaruse: Great loss to THISDAY Newspapers!

Where is my brother, Collins Edomaruse? I understand he has resigned as General Editor of THISDAY. This is a great loss. So, despite all his efforts, Collins left THISDAY Newspapers without editing a title? I think The Prince knows what he’s doing! I still recall many times when staff of the newspaper went on strike at Unity Street in Ikeja area of Lagos and the chairman would roar from ‘exile’ and say: “Victor, my paper must not fail to be on the streets. If the paper doesn’t appear on the newstands tomorrow, consider yourself fired.” Collins was called different names like “Sell Out” and accused of frustrating workers’ strike.

Collins was at various times Deputy Editor, Daily; Deputy Editor, Saturday and Deputy Editor, Sunday; Deputy News Editor,  News Editor, Political Editor, Editor (Nations Capital); Energy Correspondent, Education Correspondent and many others.

Collins was our eye in THISDAY Newspapers; yet, he was never allowed to use his experience to inject sanity into the paper which, to many, is lacking administrative acumen. Since when has it become a crime for a full-blooded son of Ika Kingdom to edit a paper owned by our own?

But those who are masquerading as untouchables should not yet shout Eureka because the wounded lions will soon avenge their massacre. One day, we shall break the jinx!

With this pedigree, this man deserves nothing less than Managing Director of Leaders & Company, after editing the paper for at least five consecutive years.

But I thank God Collins have escaped from the political shenanigans. I wish him long life and better days ahead...

But Collins has this to say...

Re: Collins Edomaruse: Painful exit from THISDAY Newspapers!

Friday,

Thank you for your concern. But note that mine is NOT a painful exit. Rather I give glory to GOD that I am leaving THISDAY at a time He has directed; in my own term and in perfect health to cast my net “in the other side” as Jesus Christ had admonished Peter in the Bible. I am leaving highly fulfilled beyond your imagination and also with very bright expectations of things to come.
