2014 World Cup: BRAZIL HERE WE COME! •Super Eagles pick ticket in style: Nigeria 4, Ethiopia 1

And so all the boasting of the Ethiopians came to nought! This evening at the UJ Esuene Stadium in Calabar, South-South Nigeria, the boastful Wayla Antelopes of Ethiopia failed to find the antidote to the Super Eagles’ deadly claws, losing 0-1 in the second leg of the final match in the Brazil 2014 qualifying series. The African champions thus confirmed their ticket with a 4-1 aggregate win, having won the first leg in Addis Ababa 2-1.

Even though the Ethiopians came out fighting hard, the Eagles were equal to the task and goalie Vincent Enyeama was on holiday for much of the game.

The Eagles broke the deadlock in the 20th minute – thanks to a masterfully taken penalty kick by Victor Moses after an Ethiopian defender handled the ball in the vital area.

As the Ethiopians came out smoking in the second half, Chief Coach Stephen Keshi pulled out Brown Ideye and in the 57th minute and introduced Obinna Nsofor for Moses in the 78th minute.

Incidentally, Nsofor was to make victory more certain with his first touch of the ball in the 81st minute. A rampaging Emmanuel Emenike had been viciously hacked down close to the vital area of the Ethiopians and Nsofor fired home the free kick to send the full house into a frenzy.

Keshi, the first Nigerian coach to win the Africa Cup of Nations, has now added another record – the first Nigerian coach to qualify for the World Cup.
