Governor Godswill Akpabio of Akwa Ibom State, the Supervising Minister of Education, Barrister Nyesom Wike, former Nigerian Ambassador to Germany, Abdul Rimdap, and the Rector of Maritime Academy of Nigeria (MAN) Oron, Joshua Okpo, are among a select group of Africans that would be honoured at the 2013 ADLER Entrepreneurship Award holding in Bonn Germany December 7.
A press release signed by Dr. Paulyn Jasen, Executive Director of AYF, said that Akpabio would at the event organised by African Youth Foundation (AYF) be decorated as the Best Governor in West Africa on Good Governance and Transformation based on his “outstanding performance especially in education for the youth, infrastructure, social activities, Commerce and Business to the public, while Wike is being honoured as Best Educational Transformer for driving the policy that has seen to the enrollment of over ten million street children (almajeris) in schools in Northern part of the country.”
It said that Okpo would receive Best Exemplary Corporate Leadership Award for transforming MAN into a foremost institutional maritime training hub in the continent, while Ambassador Rimdap is to be honoured for Diaspora diplomatic achievements.
Dr. Jasen said the four nominees whose awards fall within the special awards category are role models to the young and upcoming African generation of today, especially in these times where business and investment between African and Europe are in the forefront.
Two other Nigerians in Diaspora, Chika Unigwe, Belgium-based author and Beatrice Onyele, a journalist in Frankfurt Germany as well as Seun Akioye, an Abuja-based journalist, will also receive the ADLER Entrepreneurship awards.
Started in 2005, the ADLER Entrepreneurship Award acknowledges the accomplishments of Africans in both Europe and Africa. It is presented to African and people of African descent who show the greatest promise of contribution to human well-being, through the creation and the application of their activities, intellect and knowledge which contribute towards the development of their communities.
