Andy Uba dumps PDP, joins APC

Senator Andy Uba

The Senator representing Anambra South under the umbrella of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Andy Uba, has finally dumped his party for the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

The Senator, who is currently serving his second term at the National Assembly, today registered in his Uga ward in Aguata Local Government Area of the state in the ongoing APC registration exercise which wraps up on Saturday.

Following the party’s stakeholders meeting in Awka recently, others political big wigs in the state who are eyeing the party’s ticket for the forthcoming governorship election in the state have also have joined in the registration exercise. They include Hon. Tony Nwoye, Dr. Chike Obidigbo, Chief Barth Nwibe, Dr Obinna Uzor, Chief Ifeanyi Ubah, among others.

Old members like the Minister of Labour and Employment, Sen. Chris Ngige, APC National Auditor and governorship hopeful, Chief George Muoghalu, have also revalidated their membership of the party.

The chairman of the five member APC registration committee in Anambra and former deputy governor of Abia State, Dr. Chris Akomas, while addressing journalists Wednesday said that the exercise was successful, adding that Anambra had become APC state.

The exercise was flagged off on Friday last week attracted former commissioners, former local government chairmen and Chieftains of other political parties who were defecting to APC.

The registration by senator Uba has further doused speculations of Uba’s defection to APC which has been a high flying rumor for since last year in the state.
