Ogun Govt. to commence tracking of schools to tighten security

The Ogun State Governor, Ibikunle Amosun, has said that the government would commence the mapping and tracking of schools in the face of the current security challenges.

This, according to him, would provide the much needed security of life and property especially in schools across the state, in the southwest of Nigeria.

He gave the hint on Wednesday in Abeokuta, while receiving the rescued students, staff and management of Nigerian Tulip International College, Isheri, Ogun State in his office.

The governor, while announcing some of the security measures being put in place across schools in the state, also sounded a note of warning to criminals, saying that perpetrators would be made to face the wrath of the law.

Five staff and three students of the school formerly known as Turkish International College were abducted from their school premises by gunmen but fortunately, have now been released after 11 days in captivity.

One of the parents had earlier told Channels Television that a ransom worth millions was paid through a negotiator and the gunmen gave the assurance that the victims would be released.

Confirming the release to Channels Television, the Assistant Inspector General of Police In charge of Zone 2 Lagos, Kayode Aderanti, explained that the victims were set free by their abductors at about 8:35 PM on Tuesday, through the bush path behind the school compound in Isheri, Ogun State.

Meanwhile, some key members of the gang and their informant have been arrested by the Police. (Channels TV)
