Kaduna Prisons Controller raises alarm over congestion, seeks private sector assistance

The Kaduna State Controller of the Nigeria Prisons Service, Abubakar Garba, has raised the alarm over the congestion of the prisons in the state and appealed for the assistance of the private sector and the state government towards solving the problem.

Speaking yesterday at an interactive session with newsmen in Kaduna, Garba expressed worry over the high number of inmates across the 14 prisons in the state.

He lamented a situation where prison facilities available in the state are grossly inadequte compared to the number of inmates serving various terms.

The Prisons Controller made a passionate appeal to the corporate world, non-governmental organisations, the state government and wealthy individuals to assist the command to decongest the prisons.
