Jama’a Emirate tackles SOKAPU over attack on Emir

The Jama’a Emirate Council has tackled the Southern Kaduna Peoples Union (SOKAPU) for denying the recent attack on the Emir of Jama’a Isa Muhammad’s convoy by armed youths in Samarun-Kataf in Zangon Kataf Local Government of Southern Kaduna State.

The Emir’s convoy was attacked by some armed youths and three vehicles were destroyed.

Speaking at a press conference on Friday in Kaduna, Kabir Kassim, Deputy Chief Imam of Jama’a Emirate, said that instead of condemning the attack on the Emir’s convoy, the Assistant Public Relations Officer of SOKAPU and former Special Adviser on Media to late Governor Patrick Yakowa, Mr. Reuben Buhari was on the Hausa Service of BBC on Wednesday January 18, 2017 denying the attack.

“This begs for answers, because acts of lawlessness should not be given cover or any kind of support by any individual or groups especially a socio-cultural group like SOKAPU,” he said.

He expressed concern that, there was no single condemnation by SOKAPU even when many Hausa-Fulani traders and travellers were killed and others injured with a survivor that later died.

“Up till this moment there is no single call or visit by the SOKAPU to His Highness, rather absolute denial,” Kassim said

He called on the security agencies to investigate the matter to unravel its root and take appropriate action.

He said the emir will not be deterred in supporting the cause of peace and unity considering the security challenges in the state.

He prayed Allah to bring eternal peace to Southern Kaduna and the entire state.

According to him, acts of lawlessness like the one in Southern Kaduna are capable of setting a dangerous trend that will affect peace building efforts being pursued by the government at all levels, security agencies, religious and traditional institutions.
