Ogun settles 546 pensioners with N1.4bn

Governor Amosun

In fulfilment of its promise to offset arrears of gratuity due to retired Civil Servants, the Ogun State Government has paid N1.473b to 546 retirees in the state.

The state Head of Service, Mr. Abayomi Sobande, who disclosed this in Abeokuta yesterday, informed that the government would not relent in its commitment in ensuring that pensioners are paid their entitlements.

He said that the first batch of 546 beneficiaries were pensioners who retired between July and December 2012.

According to him, the payment would be a continuous process done in batches according to the list released by the Bureau of State pension.

He added that for Local Government pensioners, payments would be made as soon as the Bureau of Local Government Pensions finalises all processes involved.

“The Senator Ibikunle Amosun administration is not relenting in its efforts at ensuring that its government put smiles on the faces of its citizens,” he added.

Mrs. Awojuola Celestina, who spoke on behalf of the beneficiaries, appreciated the gesture of the government and gave glory to God that they are alive to collect their entitlements.
