The death was confirmed in a statement issued to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) by the Divisional Head of the Fire Service in Dambatta Local Government Area, Muhammad Ibrahim-Nasiru, on Wednesday in Kano.
“Saminu Yusuf-Abdullahi died in the early hours of today after a brief illness and his funeral prayer was conducted at about 8:30 a.m according to Islamic rites,” the statement said.
It noted that Yusuf-Abdullahi served as the spokesperson of the Kano State Fire Service, where he played a key role in communicating the activities and emergency operations of the service to members of the public.
The statement also said the deceased was particularly known for providing timely information on fire incidents, prevention measures, emergency response operations and other activities aimed at protecting lives and property of the general public.
“His death is regarded as a significant loss to the Kano State Fire Service and the wider community, especially given his role in keeping the public informed during emergencies.
“The deceased’s colleagues and stakeholders are expected to continue to mourn his passing and acknowledge his contributions to public safety and emergency communication,” it added.
While praying to Almighty Allah to forgive his shortcomings and grant him Jannatul Firdaus, the statement urged members of his immediate family and colleagues to continue praying for his eternal rest. (NAN)
