NDYFGG President Ukueku
A prominent Niger Delta youth leader and National President of the Niger Delta Youth for Good Governance (NDYFGG), Comr. Lucky O.O Ukueku, has called on the Delta State Government to deepen inclusive governance and prioritize youth employment and infrastructural development.
In a statement personally signed by him in Warri and issued to newsmen, Comr. Ukueku, who is the Pioneer National President of the Presidential Amnesty Programme (PAP) Scholarship Students Worldwide and former Vice-Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Ughelli South Local Government Area, said his observations are borne out of genuine concern for the development of the state.
Comr. Ukueku, who is presently the Deputy State Chairman of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) in Delta State, said expectations were very high among Deltans, especially the youths, after the 2023 general elections.
He noted that many young people who participated actively in the electoral process are now seeking greater inclusion through job creation, empowerment and skill acquisition programmes.
According to him, good governance should be felt by all Deltans, particularly the youths, who form the bulk of the population.
“Government should create more opportunities for Delta youths to be gainfully employed. If not through political appointments, then through job creation, entrepreneurship support and human capital development,” he said.
Comr. Ukueku also expressed concern over infrastructural challenges in parts of the state, especially the problem of flooding and poor drainage system, which he said requires urgent attention.
He observed that Delta State, with its enormous human and natural resources and high federal allocation, has the capacity to compete favourably with states like Abia and Enugu in terms of economic growth and human capital development.
He therefore appealed to those close to the Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, to continue to guide and advise the administration on the yearnings and aspirations of the people.
He stated that effective leadership requires collaboration, noting that a good Governor must seek advice from experienced stakeholders, listen to constructive criticisms and use such feedback to lead well and deliver the dividends of democracy.
He urged Deltans, especially the youths, to remain peaceful, law-abiding and committed to democratic ideals as the 2027 general elections approach, stressing that constructive engagement remains the best path to good governance.
He concluded by praying for peace, unity and sustainable development in Delta State
