All Progressives Congress (APC) stakeholders in the North-Central have scheduled October 10 for a mega rally in Lafia, Nasarawa State, to mobilise support for President Bola Tinubu’s re-election in 2027.
The stakeholders also pledged to deliver the highest number of votes for Tinubu from northern Nigeria, while resolving to organise medical outreaches and establish a reconciliation committee to address grievances within the party.
The resolutions were read by the APC National Chairman, Nentawe Yilwatda, after a meeting of North-Central stakeholders convened under the North-Central Grassroots Mobilisation Network, whose grand patron is the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), George Akume.
The meeting, attended by governors, government appointees and other party leaders from the six states in the geopolitical zone, also resolved to intensify grassroots mobilisation across the region ahead of the 2027 general election.
According to the resolutions, the October 10 rally will bring together APC members and supporters from the six states to demonstrate their support for Tinubu’s re-election.
The stakeholders said they would mobilise party members across the states to ensure a large turnout at the rally in Lafia.
They also resolved to reconvene next week to coordinate preparations for the rally and other mobilisation activities.
As part of the resolutions, the stakeholders approved a medical outreach programme for sick and vulnerable residents across the three senatorial zones of Benue State.
The programme will provide comprehensive eye screening and treatment, refraction and prescription of spectacles, cataract assessments and selected cataract surgeries in appropriately equipped facilities.
Other services will include glaucoma screening and diabetic eye examinations.
The stakeholders also endorsed a North-Central Grassroots Advocacy Tour and Town Hall Meetings across the 19 senatorial districts in the six states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
The programme, coordinated by the network’s National Coordinator, Sonny St. Echono, is designed to extend the mobilisation campaign to grassroots communities across the region.
The meeting further resolved to constitute a reconciliation committee to address grievances among party members and stakeholders and consolidate support for Tinubu ahead of the 2027 elections.
In his earlier address, Akume said the North-Central Grassroots Mobilisation Network was established to mobilise votes across the geopolitical zone for the re-election of Tinubu and Vice-President Kashim Shettima.
He said the network had identified the grand rally, medical outreach and grassroots advocacy tour as its major activities ahead of the elections.
The programme has received the endorsement of the APC National Secretariat.
The North-Central comprises Benue, Kogi, Kwara, Nasarawa, Niger and Plateau states, as well as the FCT. (Daily Sun)
