A yet-to-be-identified man has been killed and another seriously injured in a suspected cult clash in the Ojo Road area of Ajegunle, Lagos State.
The incident reportedly began on Sunday evening, September 27, following a dispute that allegedly resulted in a member of the Aye cult group, identified as Qudus, stabbing a suspected member of the Vikings confraternity.
According to a report by Naija Confra seen by PUNCH Metro on Thursday, suspected Vikings members later attacked Qudus, leaving him seriously injured.
“He was reportedly taken to an undisclosed hospital for treatment,” the report added.
The incident subsequently triggered a reprisal attack by suspected Aye members, who allegedly killed a man around a bus stop on Ojo Road.
Naija Confra reported that although the group claimed the deceased was a member of the Vikings confraternity, members of the rival group allegedly denied this, saying he was not one of them.
However, an X user, Mohawk, who commented on the incident, gave a different account of the events.
Mohawk alleged that four people initially went to the area to start the fight and that one of them brought an outsider into the area, who allegedly attacked Qudus and three others.
The X user further claimed that some of those involved were unaware of the alleged outsider’s intention.
“He was reported at the station and police officers subsequently searched his residence,” Mohawk added.
The state Police Public Relations Officer, Abimbola Adebisi, said she was not aware of the incident.
“I’ll have to check with the DPO or Area Commander. I’ll get back to you tomorrow,” she said. (The PUNCH)
