Veteran actor Richard Mofe-Damijo, popularly known as RMD, celebrated Joke Silva, an actress, director, producer, renowned for her pioneering contributions to Nollywood, as she clocks 65 years.
RMD shared the birthday message on his verified Instagram page — ‘@mofedamijo’, describing her as his younger sister while recalling their friendship and working relationship that has spanned for more than 40 years.
He acknowledged Silva’s grief following the death of her husband and fellow veteran actor, Olu Jacobs and celebrated her contributions to the Nigerian creative industry.
“Even as you mourn the love of your life, Uncle Jay, we are reminded of your life of grace, your dedication and your love of not just family, but your craft and your country,” RMD wrote on his Instagram page.
He described Silva’s contributions to the entertainment industry and the lives she had touched over the years as immeasurable, adding that it was a privilege to witness and celebrate the woman she had become.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Joke Silva is a veteran actress and cultural leader whose career span the stage, television and film and Co-founder of Lufodo Productions.
Her husband, Olu Jacobs, died on Sept. 16 at the age of 84. (NAN)
