The Oyo State Police Command has arrested two male suspects, including a 17-year-old, over the kidnapping of a 38-year-old man in Ikoyi-Ile.

The police said the victim, Nathaniel Peter, was abducted at Layeri Village, via Ikoyi-Ile, on September 24.

In a Sunday statement, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) of the command, DSP Olayinka Ayanlade, disclosed that the incident was reported at about 5:50pm on Sept. 24 by a resident who said armed men had invaded a family compound at about 4:20am same day.

According to the police, three armed men forcibly gained entry into Peter’s room and abducted him, escaping through the National Reserve Forest after carting away a Hajue motorcycle and the victim’s mobile phone.

Ayanlade further said operatives who commenced investigation have arrested two suspects, namely Muhammadu Abubakar, an adult, and Jayun Danali, aged 17, who are currently assisting with information.

“The arrest has consequently provided useful investigative leads towards identifying and apprehending other persons connected with the incident,” the PPRO said.

He said the command, in collaboration with other security agencies, has intensified coordinated operations to rescue the victim and arrest fleeing members of the gang.

The command reassured residents of its commitment to their safety and urged the public to remain vigilant and share credible information.
