The management of Ossiomo Power Company, located in Ologbo, Ikpoba-Okha Local Government, Edo State, has raised concerns over damage to and the removal of some of its electricity equipment, estimated by the company to be worth several millions of naira.

In a statement issued in Benin City, the company said an incident occurred at its facility on Wednesday afternoon involving a group of youths from the Ologbo community.

According to the company, some equipment associated with its 33kV electricity lines, including high-tension wires, cables and conductors, were damaged or removed during the incident.

The company further stated that its security personnel confronted some individuals at the facility in connection with the incident.

The company also stated that there had previously been court proceedings concerning access to its premises involving some of the individuals and organisations referenced in its statement.

However, the specific circumstances and current status of those proceedings could not be independently established from the information provided by the company.

Ossiomo Power Company said the incident had affected its electricity infrastructure and appealed to relevant authorities and stakeholders to assist in protecting the company’s facilities and ensuring that any disputes concerning the facility are resolved through appropriate legal and administrative channels.

The company also appealed for the protection of its 33kV infrastructure to enable it complete necessary repairs and work towards restoring electricity supply to affected customers in Edo State.
