Former lawyer of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Sir Ifeanyi Ejiofor, has raised fresh concerns over the activities of Agunechemba/Operation Udo Ga-Achi in Oraifite, alleging that operatives abducted residents and confiscated motorcycles and phones during a September 14 operation before a subsequent audio recording allegedly threatened him with a planned attack.

In an open letter dated September 17, 2026, addressed to Anambra State Governor Chukwuma Charles Soludo, Ejiofor called for urgent intervention, professional supervision and an independent investigation into the allegations. He said the concerns were particularly serious given the approaching electoral season and the need to keep security operations within the law.

Ejiofor said the latest incident occurred at about 6pm on September 14, 2026, when Udo Ga-Achi operatives reportedly entered parts of Oraifite.

According to the seasoned legal practitioner, several youths and other road users, particularly motorcycle riders, were allegedly taken away, while motorcycles, mobile phones and other personal belongings were reportedly confiscated.

He said some of those allegedly taken away were transported first to detention facilities in Oba and subsequently to Awka.

“Their only ‘offence’ was exercising their constitutionally guaranteed right to freedom of movement within their hometown and along a road constructed by Your Excellency,” Ejiofor stated.

He further alleged that members of the Oraifite Community Security Outfit later intercepted some of the Udo Ga-Achi operatives at Aba-Uzoinor Junction, resulting in a confrontation between the two security groups before the situation was eventually de-escalated.

Ejiofor said one vehicle belonging to the team was subsequently seized and kept at a facility under the control of Vincent Dike at the Civic Centre in Oraifite before being released following intervention by Udo Ga-Achi leadership from Awka.

The lawyer then drew attention to an audio recording circulated on September 16, alleging that it contained a voice belonging to Ugochukwu Nnajiofor, also known as “Man Pass Man”.

He alleged that the recording contained instructions concerning the preparation and deployment of charms intended for an attack against him.

“Where a person occupying, or perceived to occupy, a position of command or operational influence within a community security structure is implicated in a recording of this nature, the appropriate institutional response cannot reasonably be silence or administrative indifference,” Ejiofor said.

He called for an investigation and lawful action if the allegations were established by evidence.

Ejiofor said Nnajiofor was the commander of the Udo Ga-Achi outfit overseeing Oraifite and Ekwusigo and expressed concern that the alleged threat could extend to him or members of his family.

“Your Excellency’s prompt intervention and decisive action are therefore urgently required,” he said.

He subsequently placed on record that if harm befell him or any member of his family in circumstances connected with the alleged threats, the relevant authorities should hold Nnajiofor, Dike and Ofodeme accountable “as may be established by the available evidence.”

The lawyer urged Governor Soludo to order professional retraining, legal re-orientation, operational supervision and human-rights sensitisation for personnel operating under Agunechemba/Operation Udo Ga-Achi.

“A security organisation earns and sustains public confidence not merely by its capacity to apprehend suspected criminals, but by the discipline with which it exercises power, the restraint with which it treats citizens, the transparency of its operations and the fidelity with which it remains within the boundaries of the law,” Ejiofor stated.

He maintained that the objective should be to strengthen, rather than weaken, the security architecture.

“The people of Anambra should never be placed in the unenviable position of having to choose between insecurity from criminals and insecurity from those entrusted with combating criminality,” he added.
