The leading, apex, socio-cultural organisation of the Ogoni people, the Movement for the Survival of the Ogoni People (MOSOP) has commended the conflict resolution model adopted by the National Security Adviser, Malam Nuhu Ribadu, to resolve the Ogoni oil conflict, describing it as an excelent model that can equally be used national reconciliation and integration.

President of MOSOP, Fegalo Nsuke, made the remarks in Port Harcourt while answering questions from news men at the Port Harcourt International Airport today.

Nsuke said Ribadu has demonstrated an exceptional quality in leadership and character and deserves the support of the Ogoni people.

He also stated that at the final conclusion of the reconciliation process, the NSA will be conferred with an Ogoni National Merit award and a chieftaincy title for being able to resolve the oil conflict which has plagued the Ogoni people and for over three decades.

“It is quite amazing to see that the National Security Adviser, Malam Nuhu Ribadu, has been able to successfully coordinate a reconciliation process in Ogoni and we are seeing the emergence of a new era and a brighter future for the Ogoni people”

“The NSA’s Ogoni model is one that should be replicated in all crises regions of Nigeria to achieve national reconciliation and integration”

Nsuke, who was visibly elated, urged the Ogoni people to embrace the opportunity offered by the ongoing dialogue, and show appreciation to Mr. President, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, and the National Security, Nuhu Ribadu.

“I think we, the Ogoni people should be appreciative of Mr. President and the NSA who have exceptionally shown concern and acted rightly to address the Ogoni problem “

“I will urge our people to be more concerned about Ogoni development and leave personal, parochial issues that are irrelevant to the larger Ogoni discussions”

“We need to create jobs for every Ogoni youth, begin building an Ogoni economy and provide quality health care, education, security, welfare for the old and do more. That should be our concern and not who leads or who does not lead the dialogue process,” he said.
