Troops of Operation Hadin Kai
Troops of Operation Hadin Kai (OPHK) have neutralised 1,106 Boko Haram and Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) terrorists and intercepted over N300 million in illicit funds from their financiers.
This was made public by the outgoing Theatre Commander of Operation Hadin Kai, Major General Abdulsalam Abubakar, during his farewell address held at the Maimalari Cantonment in Maiduguri, Borno State.
According to the outgoing commander, the extensive military operations also led to the arrest of no fewer than 758 logistics collaborators aiding the insurgent groups.
“Troops successfully recovered over 475 assorted weapons and 24,409 rounds of various calibre ammunition, while 295 Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) were discovered and safely detonated,” he said.
He attributed the operational successes to a strategic combination of sustained kinetic pressure and robust non-kinetic engagements.
This dual approach, he noted, triggered an unprecedented wave of surrenders, with over 969 JAS/ISWAP fighters and their family members laying down their arms within the past year.
He also said that the theatre recorded major victories in rescue operations, adding that “638 civilians were rescued from terrorist enclaves, as well as the safe rescue of all 46 students during the attempted abduction at the Federal Government Girls College, Monguno, amongst others.”
He noted that notable insurgent leaders such as Abu Bilal Al-Muniki (Abu Mainok), Malam Jidda (Amir of Ngorgore/Malumti villages), Abu Modu, Modu Dogo,
Munzir of Dogon Chukun, Abu Aisha (Qaid of Tumbun Mota), and Abul Kaka, among others, were neutralised.
He thanked President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for the opportunity to serve the nation and the Borno State Government. (Daily Trust)
