Chief Executive Officer of Dangote Group, Aliko Dangote
The President and Chief Executive Officer of Dangote Group, Aliko Dangote, has identified inconsistencies in government policies and lack of electricity as the two greatest problems confronting businesses and manufacturers in Nigeria.
Speaking during an exclusive interview with ARISE News, Dangote said the challenges continue to undermine the ability of businesses to operate efficiently, particularly manufacturers who rely on electricity to sustain production.
“The greatest problem, there are two, which are still existing. One is inconsistencies in government policies. The second one is to do with lack of electricity.”
He said the cost of alternative energy sources makes manufacturing increasingly difficult, particularly as diesel prices remain high.
“You cannot manufacture goods with diesel. You can see where diesel is today. You can’t even produce bread and make money today. So, we have to look at that today.”
Dangote also drew attention to the scale of Nigeria’s electricity challenge, saying millions of Africans remain without access to power.
“We must make sure, even for us, really, as Africans, we cannot sit down and see that everybody is complaining. 600 million of our people, they actually don’t have power.”
He said the scale of the challenge had prompted some business leaders to consider taking direct action to address the power deficit.
“And that’s the reason why some of us were saying, you know what, we will take this power challenge and make sure that we deliver power to our people.” (AriseNews TV, excluding headline)
