Deputy Senate Leader, representing Kebbi South Senatorial zone, Bala Ibn Na’Allah, on Sunday donated N11 million to Christian Orphanage Home in Zuru, Kebbi State.
Speaking while celebrating Christmas with orphans of Widows’ Rehabilitation and Orphans’ Mission (WIROM), in Zuru, he said Solar Powered Water system and water installation project worth N10 million will be provided within one month to permanently address the acute problem of water supply in the orphanage, in addition to a balance of N1 million cash for upkeep of the orphanage.
“We shall also provide land for the expansion of the orphanage and will also assess the extent of dilapidation of the structure especially the leaking roof before the rainy season,” he said.
The Senator also requested to be added as part of the Board of Trustees of the orphanage home.
He called on wealthy individuals and corporate organisations to complement government’s efforts in providing assistance to orphans and the less privileged in the society.
Mrs. Naomi Nomah, Founder of WIROM, in her welcome speech, said the organisation currently has 1,323 orphans and vulnerable children in its care.
She sought the construction of vocational and artisan training school to accommodate the training of various skills and provision of trading equipment.
Mrs. Nomah said WIROM established in 1998, is a charity/faith based organisation whose principal purpose is to give hope and purposeful future to widows, orphans and vulnerable children towards creating a society in which every child is celebrated as a unique and valuable creation of God and is encouraged to fulfill his or her full potential.
“WIROM has so far graduated 13 sets of young girls and widows from vocational and artisan training annually who are now fending for themselves as a result of skill development training received from the organisation.
