Oluebube Ofomas back showing injuries allegedly inflicted by her mother

A 32-year-old woman, Mrs. Ogechi Ofoma, has been arrested by security operatives in Anambra State over alleged brutal abuse of her seven-year-old daughter, Oluebube Ofoma, in Obosi community, Idemili North Local Government Area of the state.
The child was reportedly rescued on Sunday, September 13, 2026, following the intervention of security personnel from Ibollo Community, Awada-Obosi, and concerned residents, after the alleged abuse came to light.
This was disclosed by the state Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), SP Tochukwu Ikenga, on Monday.
According to him, the command received the report in the evening of September 13 concerning alleged child abuse and severe bodily injuries involving the seven-year-old girl.
He said that preliminary information indicated that the child had allegedly been subjected to severe physical abuse, including injuries reportedly inflicted with a hot knife.
The statement reads in part: “Following the intervention of the community, security personnel and residents, the child was rescued from further harm, while her mother was arrested and police action commenced immediately.
“The development has also prompted the intervention of the Commissioner of Police, CP Nnanna Oji Ama, who has commenced collaboration with the Anambra State Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Welfare to ensure that the victim receives urgent and appropriate medical attention, protection and other necessary welfare support.
“The Police Commissioner also commended the Ibollo Community security personnel and residents for their vigilance, courage and prompt intervention, which it said helped save the child from further harm and enabled the immediate commencement of police action.”
The Command however assured that the investigation into the incident would be thorough, professional and uncompromising, stressing that the welfare, safety and best interests of the child remained paramount.
It also said that it would continue to work with relevant agencies to protect vulnerable persons and ensure that anyone found responsible for the alleged abuse is held accountable in accordance with the law.
This abuse incident is coming barely four days after police arrested a 36-year-old woman, Anulika Onyeanusia, over an alleged case of child pornography in Onitsha.
Her arrest came on the heels of a viral pornographic video showing where she was using sex toys on her underage children.
