The Deejays Association of Nigeria (DJAN), Enugu State Chapter, has distanced itself from a group identified as the “Enugu DJs Alliance” over the purported endorsement of political candidates.

The association stated this in a disclaimer signed by the Chairman of its Disciplinary Committee, DJ ErnESTYNO, and the Secretary of the Disciplinary Committee, DJ Kings, on Monday in Enugu.

“The attention of the association has been drawn to the news and pictures circulating in the media where a group of DJs purportedly called “Enugu DJs Alliance” endorsed political candidates.

“DJAN, Enugu, which is the duly recognized DJs in the state is a nonpartisan organisation and does not meddle in political affairs,” the association said.

It said the group involved in the political endorsement was neither affiliated with nor connected to DJAN Enugu.

“DJAN Enugu State Chapter is a non-partisan organisation and does not belong to, support, or identify with any political party,” the statement said.

According to the group, the group has neither endorsed, adopted nor declared support for any candidate contesting political office at the local, state or federal level.

The association warned that any statement, publication, campaign, endorsement or political activity suggesting that DJAN Enugu had endorsed or was supporting a political candidate or party should not be regarded as its official position.

It also advised its members to distinguish between their personal political opinions and the official position of DJAN Enugu.

It urged politicians and members of the public to be cautious of groups presenting themselves as representatives of DJs in the state and making promises of political support.

DJAN Enugu said it would continue to uphold its neutrality, unity and professional objectives without partisan political affiliation. (NAN)
