The Rivers State Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Bro. Felix Obuah, has told the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the just concluded re-run election for Rivers South East Senatorial district, Mr. Magnus Abe, that it is too early to jubilate over the declaration by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) that he won the election.

A statement signed by the Chairman’s Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Jerry Needam said the PDP is confident that the hurried jubilation by Abe would be short-lived as the truth behind his ‘emergence’ unfolds.

Regretting what it described as “the despicable manner in which Magnus Abe, Barry Mpigi, Mr. Derrick Mene and other chieftains of the APC in Ogoni connived with the Army, SARS, Police and APC thugs to kill and maim members of the PDP,” the PDP said it is only a matter of time before “the truth about the ill-fated election held on Saturday, December 10, 2016 would be unraveled.”

The party further accused Magnus Abe and the APC of pushing their desperation to the extent of kicking against the redeployment of the SARS Commander who was caught red-handed by drone cameras hijacking INEC result sheets and other materials.

Bro. Obuah said recent events in the state have already “exposed the APC in their unholy quest to win elections at all cost,” pointing at the Sahara Reporters “concocted audio on His Excellency, Governor Nyesom Wike, as a ploy to cover up the atrocities they committed to ensure victory for Magnus Abe and other APC candidates.”

Bro. Obuah said these actions exposed “APC’s desperate moves because it knew the game would soon be up as their evil deeds would be exposed,” maintaining that “Abe had only a day before the ill-conceived, manufactured audio, boasted on a radio programme that an ‘audio evidence’ would soon be released against Governor Wike.”

The PDP Chairman wondered why Magnus Abe “would violate his conscience to celebrate a victory secured through the shedding of innocent blood of PDP members in Ogoni.”

Bro. Obuah also called for the arrest and prosecution of the Executive Director, Finance/Administration of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), Mr. Derrick Mene over the killing and maiming of PDP members especially in Khana Local Government Area.

According to the PDP Chairman, Mr. Lenee Neebani, PDP Chairman Ward 10 was arrested “by Mr. Derrick Mene’s police from his home town and taken to his hotel at Wiiyaakara in Khana Local Government Area of the state, beaten to a state of coma and released on Sunday evening, December 11, 2016. Mr. Lenee Neebani later died the following day in a hospital, following the beaten and injuries he sustained.”

Still recounting what he called “Mr. Mene’s shocking cruelties,” Bro. Obuah said that the Ward 9 Secretary of PDP in Khana LGA, Mr. Legborsi Azoor, “is presently in a critical condition, bleeding from his ears and nose.”

“Mr. Azoor and other PDP members were illegally arrested, taken to Derrick Mene’s hotel at Wiiyaakara before and during the election.

“Derrick Mene’s hotel at Wiiyaakara was the illegal detention camp for PDP members and also used as collation Center. They hijacked PDP members to the hotel and also hijacked electoral materials to the hotel,” Obuah said.
