Ibrahim Magu
The Senate has turned down the request of President Muhammadu Buhari to confirm the Acting Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Mr. Ibrahim Magu, as substantive Chairman of the Commission.
The Upper Chamber said it based the decision on a damning security report on Magu provided by the Nigerian secret police, the Directorate of State Security (DSS).
News Express reports that Magu has remained controversial since his appointment by Buhari some six months ago.
His confirmation had been slated on a number of occasions but always ended up being shifted until today’s plenary.
